Jane Low, widow of James Low, Sr., sold an enslaved man, Vincen, whom her husband had willed to her during her natural life. With the funds raised, Jane Low purchased 16 year old Lucy, and in this document dated 12 February 1834 she stipulated that Lucy was to be conveyed to her grand-children Cicero and Jane upon her death. This gift fulfilled the terms of her husband's will in which Vincen was to pass to the grandchildren upon her death.
