Abstract

Bill of Sale. William Douthit and Thomas Cooper sell to Leonard Goss “…a molatto boy named Lewis...” for $300. No further information about Lewis’ age or relationships, but the selling price suggests he will soon be able to do “adult” work. The document was signed February 13, 1829, presented in Court eight years later in August 1837 and registered June 23, 1837. (Abstractor’s note: Davidson County Deed Books 6 and 7 were microfilmed By the North Carolina Dept. of Archives and History, on one roll of microfilm (December 9, 1966). The “roll” has internal identification number 1575, and has Family Search identification number 007539232. Book 6, pages 1-543 are on microfilm images 8-297, and Book 7, pages 1-564 are on microfilm images 302-600. The current document starts on image 30, in the Book 6 section.)
