Bill of Sale, from an estate. George Rothrock, Executor of Phillip Rothrock, deceased, sells to John Hines, Jr. “…a Certain Negro Woman about forty years old named Rachel…” for $275. No further information about Rachel or her relationships. The Rothrocks were from Stokes County, so their might be more information about Rachel and her people there. I assume she will be moving to Davidson County with Hines. The document was signed May 4, 1839, presented in Court August 1839 and registered October 2, 1839. (Abstractor’s note: Davidson County Deed Books 6 and 7 were microfilmed By the North Carolina Dept. of Archives and History, on one roll of microfilm (December 9, 1966). The “roll” has internal identification number 1575, and has Family Search identification number 007539232. Book 6 pages 1-543 are on microfilm images 8-297, and Book 7 pages 1-564 are on microfilm images 302-600. The current document starts on image 392, in the Book 7 section.)
