Deed of Gift. Barbara Davis gives to her daughter Polly Green (wife of Samuel Green) “…a Certain Yellow boy of the age of five years old named Pleasant…”. No further information about Pleasant or his relationships, and I will assume “yellow” means “mulatto”. Davis mentions that Polly has children, and Pleasant may eventually transfer to them. The document was signed August 31, 1840, presented in Court November 1840 and registered January 20, 1841. (Abstractor’s note: Davidson County Deed Books 6 and 7 were microfilmed by the North Carolina Dept. of Archives and History, on one roll of microfilm (December 9, 1966). The “roll” has internal identification number 1575, and has Family Search identification number 007539232. Book 6 pages 1-543 are on microfilm images 8-297, and Book 7 pages 1-564 are on microfilm images 302-600. The current document starts on image 518, in the Book 7 section.)
