Know all men by these presents that I, Joseph Wood, of the state of North Carolina, Randolph County, for and in consideration of three hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Nancy Lindsay of the state of North Carolina, Guilford County. The receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledged have bargained, sold and delivered in the Sd. Nancy one Negro girl by named Luse, eleven years old to have and to hold the Sd. Negroe girl Luse into the said Nancy, her executors, administrators and assigns forever. And I the Sd. Joseph Wood for myself my executors and administrators shall and will warrant and defend forever against all persons by these presents the said bargained Negro girl unto the Sd. Nancy her executors, administrators and assigns. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal. Signed, sealed and delivered in presence of David Lindsay, Andrew Lindsay. State of North Carolina, Guilford County. J. Wood, May Term 1812. Andrew Lindsay proved the execution of the within Bill of Sale in open court and on motion ordered to be registered.
