Know all men by these presents that I John Thompson Junior for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred and sixty dollars to me in hand paid by Obediah Dick the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge and thereof exonerate and acquiet the Said Dick his heirs executors and administrators have bargained sold and delivered by these presents do bargain, sell, and deliver unto the Sd. [Said] Obediah Dick one negro man named Jo aged about thirty years. I do by these presents warrant and Defend the said Negro Jo slave for life from the lawfull claim of all persons and persons unto the said Obediah Dick his heirs and assigns as witnesseth my hand and seal this sixth day of September 1806.
