Know all men by these presents that I Benjamin Suddereth of Guilford County and State of North Carolina have for the valuable consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have bargained sold and delivered and by these presents do bargain sell and deliver unto James McCaley of the County and State aforesaid a certain Negro Slave Called and Known by the Name Joe from thirty five to forty years old which Negro Slave I do hereby warrant and defend to the Said James McCawley a good and Lawfull Right and Title free from the lawfull Claim or claims of any other person or persons whatsoever only to and from the lawfull use of Sd.(Said) James McCawley his Heirs Executors and I do hereby warrant and Defend the Sd.(Said) Negro Man from all persons whatsoever from having any just claim to Sd.(Said) Negro man Slave and will for ever Defend him from my heirs and Executors and Every other person having any other Title by any other Bill of Sale Mortgage or Execution. In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and Seal this 7th day of March 1807.
