State of North Carolina Guilford County Know all men by these presents that Mary Donnell of the County and State afs [aforesaid] for and in Consideration of the Sum of forty five pounds to one in hand paid at and before the Sealing in and Delivering of these presents by William Brown the Receipt whareof I do hereby Acknowledge have bargained and by these presents do bargain Sell and set over unto the Sd [said] William Brown a Certain Negro Mulatto Slave Named Comfort aged about thirty five years to have and to hold the Sd [said] Slave by these presents Bargained and Sold unto the said William Brown his Hiers and assigns for ever and I the said Mary Donnell for myself my Heirs Executors Administrators and assigns and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever Shall and will warrant and for ever Defend by these presents for ever Defend in witness whareof I have here unto Set my hand and Seal this 4th day of November 1796.his
