Richard J Cook sells his right to Tamer and her children, John, Mary, and Ben--who are in the possession of Wd. (sic) Anna Samuel--to Josiah Cowles for $300. He includes in the sale Jack, who is in the possession of Wd [---ninger] of Stokes County. All of the enslaved were purchased together with an Alvin F. Duvall, deceased, and the title for Jack is currently being disputed in the Superior Court of Wilkes County. The bill of sale/mortgage will be void if Richard J Cook can repay the $300 to Josiah Cowles before 1 March 1828. Richard Cook purchased Tamer and her children from a Micajah L Samuel.
