Abstract

Bill of Sale. James Mabeary sells to his son Randolph Mabeary “a certain negro Boy Bamie” for $250. Bamie’s age is given as an unreadable word, then “…or twelve years of age”. No further information about Bamie or his relationships. The clerk was haphazard with spelling throughout the document, spelling the same words different ways from one line to the next, and “Mabeary” is spelled at least four different ways. “Mabeary” is from the signature, but see NC.WIL.R.257.1. Document was signed, I think, December 30, 1851, presented in Court February 1852 and registered April 1, 1852.
