Deed In Trust, Deed of Gift. Richard Allen transfers to Trustee William F. Adams title to “one Negro Woman named Hily and her two children which she now has together with her increase and the increase of her children should there be any…”. No names or ages for the two children, and no information about their other relationships. The Trust is to be for the “sole use and benefit” of Richard Allen’s daughter Sarah Ann Asbury, during her lifetime, and after her death, the enslaved will be divided up among Sarah Ann’s children. The document was signed January 23, 1853, presented in Court February 1853 and registered April 4, 1853.
