Deed of Gift. William Warren gives to his son Alfred Warren “the following slaves (to wit) Landsley, Caroline, Lewis, Joe, Nurvey” and warrants them to be “of sound mind and body and slaves for life”. The enslaved are to remain in William Warren’s possession until his death, and then will transfer immediately to Alfred Warren. No information in the document about the enslaved’s ages or relationships. Document was signed March 15, 1856, presented in Court September 18, 1856, and registered March 25, 1857.
