Bill of Sale. James Calloway, Executor of the estate of Milly Goforth, deceased, sells to Co. Hamilton Brown “one Negro Boy Slave named William about thirty years of age – dark complection for the sum of Eight hundred and sixty dollars (the said Boy was bid off by J.B. Gordon Esq.). I warrant the said boy William to be sound and a slave for life.” No further information about William or his relationships. I assume J.B. Gordon was just acting as auctioneer. Document says it was signed February 7, 1843, presented in Court July 17, 1857 and registered November 6, 1857, 13+ years later. Note NC.WIL.R.74.1 also has the same 1843 and 1857 dates, but an entirely different group of people.
