Abstract

Bill of sale was recorded on 3 January I 815. Indenture was made 31 December 1814: Henry W. Ball of the City of Washington in the District of Columbia sells to Alexander McCormick of the same place, for $5.00, a Negro man named James age about 30 and a Negro girl named Milly age about 11, along with one horse, one cow, three beds and bedsteads and various pieces of furniture and household items. Alexander McCormick has become security on some notes of Henry Ball's. If Henry Ball pays off the notes so that Alexander McCormick will not be liable, then this bill of sale will be null and void. But, if not, then it will be lawful for Alexander McCormick to sell as much of the property as necessary to cover the notes. The sale will be in the District of Columbia (unless the parties agree otherwise) after giving 15 days public notice of the time and place of the sale.
